May 2026 patch summary

Patch-by-Patch Breakdown

v2.4.1May 4, 2026Season 5 Pre-Drop

Minor balance pass and first May code drop. No structural changes — the dev team signalled this as a 'tuning patch before the big May mid-month update'.

Codes

  • New code MAYWAR2026 added — 250 free coins. Redeem at the Codes tab.

Unit balance

  • Drone swarm respawn timer reduced by 0.5 seconds — minor improvement that reduces the gap between swarm waves on small maps.
  • Infantry production cost unchanged despite community speculation.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a display bug where Rice Mill pairing bonus appeared as 14% in the UI rather than 15%.
  • Alliance trade bonus calculation corrected — was rounding down incorrectly in edge cases.

Meta impact

No meta shift. The Drone respawn timer reduction is too small to change spawn priority decisions. Existing income-first openings remain optimal.

v2.4.2May 11, 2026Workshop Nerf + Tank HP Reduction

The most impactful balance patch of the month. Workshop production speed dropped 8% and Tank HP dropped 6%. Both changes have real effects on mid-game strategy.

Codes

  • New code MMBASE added — 300 coins + 1 free building slot token. Token lets you expand base capacity by one slot temporarily for a single match.

Building changes

  • Workshop production speed -8%. Previously produced one component every 42 seconds; now produces every 45.4 seconds. This makes pure Workshop-stacking bases slower to scale in mid-game.
  • Factory output unchanged in this patch (will be addressed in v2.4.3).
  • HQ HP pool unchanged — community speculation about HQ nerfs was incorrect.

Unit balance

  • Tank HP reduced by 6%. Not a severe nerf, but enough that Artillery can reliably two-shot a Tank that has taken Turret fire — previously required three shots in some configurations.
  • Helicopter HP unchanged. Helicopter remains the primary Wall-bypass unit.
  • Artillery damage per volley unchanged.

Economy

  • No income building changes. Wheat Farm, Rice Mill, Brewery, and Power Plant values are identical to April builds.

Meta impact

Workshop nerf pushes income base design away from Workshop-heavy configurations. See the base layout planner for updated mid-game preset layouts. Tank HP reduction does not remove Tank from the meta but nudges players toward faster Tank rotation cycles rather than relying on single Tanks absorbing extended Turret fire.

v2.4.3May 14, 2026Hot Fix — Factory Buff + Anti-Air Tuning

Small hot fix dropped midweek. Factory got the output buff the devs hinted at in the v2.4.2 patch notes.

Building changes

  • Factory output +12%. Previously generated 160 coins/min equivalent in unit component supply; now generates 179 coins/min equivalent. Makes Factory-anchored mid-game layouts viable for the first time since the March 2026 core update.
  • Storage building capacity increased by 15% — primarily helps players who use multi-building hoarding strategies before a push wave.

Unit balance

  • Anti-Air Turret targeting range decreased by 5%. This is a meaningful buff for Helicopter players — Helicopter can now fly slightly closer before triggering Anti-Air targeting.
  • Drone swarm units now take 8% more Anti-Air damage. A minor nerf that partially offsets the Anti-Air range reduction — net result is neutral for most compositions.

Meta impact

Factory is now worth building in mid-game income configurations for the first time since Q1 2026. Anti-Air range reduction gives Helicopter-heavy compositions a small edge on medium maps. Drone swarm compositions are roughly net-neutral after the damage increase.

v2.4.4May 16, 2026Season 5 Preview + Economy Polish

Largest patch of the month. Season 5 mechanics previewed, a new code dropped, and several economy building values were refined. The dev notes explicitly described this as a 'pre-season balance foundation'.

Codes

  • New code WARSEASON5 added — 500 free coins. This is the highest-value single code release since December 2025.

Building changes

  • Wheat Farm base income unchanged (still 120/min). This was the most commonly community-requested change that did not happen.
  • Rice Mill pairing bonus officially confirmed at 15% in patch notes (matching what community testing had established).
  • Brewery bonus to adjacent Rice Mill officially confirmed at 20%.
  • Supply Depot unit cost reduction confirmed at 12% — all three values now have official developer confirmation, not just community testing.

Season 5 preview content

  • New building type teased: 'Command Centre' — details unavailable but developer preview shows it may affect all building output rather than single buildings.
  • New unit type hinted: 'Mech Walker' — high HP frontline with area damage on contact. Not yet in game.
  • Season 5 start date not announced.

UI improvements

  • Income/min counter now visible without hovering the coin bar — shows as a small overlay during matches.
  • Wave counter redesigned to show opponent wave progress side-by-side.
  • Tech Tree path now shows unlock cost totals so players can plan Power Plant → Artillery path without manual calculation.

Meta impact

No direct meta change from this patch — it is mostly confirmations and UI improvements. The Command Centre tease could significantly shift base layout strategy if it applies a global output multiplier. Hold off on major base redesigns until Season 5 details are confirmed.

v2.4.5May 18, 2026Minor Fix + Wall HP Rebalance

Small patch released Sunday morning AEST. Wall HP adjusted after community testing showed Walls were absorbing disproportionate Artillery damage at certain angles.

Building changes

  • Wall HP reduced by 4% at the base level. This is smaller than it sounds — Walls were already not the dominant defensive choice for experienced players. The meta impact is minimal.
  • Wall T2 and T3 upgrade costs unchanged.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed Artillery projectile path calculation that caused volleys to miss Walls at angles above 45 degrees. This was causing Artillery to underperform in certain large-map configurations.
  • Fixed a rare build order bug where placing Storage before Power Plant caused the Tech Tree to skip an unlock tier.

Meta impact

Artillery effectiveness on large maps improved due to the projectile path fix — Artillery volleys were genuinely bugged before this patch. If your large-map Artillery performance was disappointing, re-test after this fix. The Wall HP reduction is too small to change defensive layout decisions.

Real Update Week Observations

12 sessions played May 11-18 immediately after the v2.4.2-v2.4.5 patch window. These are my actual gameplay observations — not extrapolated from patch notes.

Unit and Building Changes — What Actually Matters

A consolidated view of which May 2026 changes are worth adjusting your strategy for, versus which are too small to factor into decisions.

Worth adjusting for

  • Workshop nerf (v2.4.2) — Remove Workshop from primary income building slot. See tier list for updated rankings.
  • Factory buff (v2.4.3) — Factory-anchored layouts are now viable in the base layout planner income-focused preset.
  • Artillery path fix (v2.4.5) — Artillery on large maps is now performing as intended. Large-map Artillery win rates from before this patch are lower than they should be.

Too small to change strategy

  • Tank HP -6% — Still the best frontline unit. Spawn rotation adjustment is minor.
  • Drone swarm +8% Anti-Air damage taken — Partially offset by Anti-Air range reduction. Net neutral for most compositions.
  • Wall HP -4% — Walls were already underused by experienced players. No change to base layout recommendations.
  • Drone respawn -0.5s (v2.4.1) — Barely perceptible. Does not change spawn priority calculations.

Economy Changes — What the May Patches Did Not Touch

The Wheat Farm + Rice Mill + Brewery income chain was untouched across all five May patches. The 15% Rice Mill pairing bonus and 20% Brewery bonus to Rice Mill were actually officially confirmed in v2.4.4 patch notes after years of community testing.

This means the income planner calculations are still accurate. The 800/min Barracks threshold, 1,800/min S-tier ceiling, and ROI ranking between upgrade vs. expand all remain valid for the current patch.

The economy calculator has been updated to reflect the Factory buff (+12% output) from v2.4.3. If you are running Factory in your income configuration, re-run the calculator with the new values.

Supply Depot's 12% unit cost reduction is now officially confirmed — which matches every test I ran before the patch. For players who were skeptical of the income planner treating Supply Depot as 110/min equivalent: the 12% figure is correct.

Strategy Meta Shifts After May 2026 Patches

The core income-first strategy remains intact. The main meta shift is away from Workshop-heavy income bases and toward either the Wheat Farm chain (unchanged) or Factory-anchored layouts (buffed in v2.4.3).

For base layout decisions, see the new base layout planner — it has updated preset layouts for early-game, mid-game, PvP, PvE, income-focused, and military-focused configurations, all reflecting the May patch changes.

For unit composition planning with the Tank HP and Anti-Air range changes factored in, use the updated strategy planner. The planner's Tank recommendations now assume the 6% lower HP pool.

Update Log FAQ

When does Mini War Roblox get updated in 2026?

Based on the May 2026 patch cadence, M&M Community has been releasing updates roughly every 7-10 days — typically on Saturdays or Sundays AEST. Patch notes appear in the official Discord before they reach the in-game notification. This tracker is updated within 24 hours of each patch going live.

Did the May 2026 patches change which base layout is best?

Yes. The May 11 patch reduced Workshop production speed by 8%, which shifted the meta away from Workshop-heavy income bases toward Barracks-first military production. The May 16 patch then buffed Factory output by 12%, making Factory-anchored layouts viable again at mid-game. See the base layout planner for updated preset layouts reflecting both changes.

Were any codes released in the May 2026 patches?

Three new codes were released in May 2026: MAYWAR2026 (dropped with the May 4 patch, 250 coins), MMBASE (dropped May 11, 300 coins + 1 free building slot token), and WARSEASON5 (dropped May 16 alongside the Season 5 announcement, 500 coins). All three are currently active. Redeem them at the Codes tab in the main menu.

Did the Tank get nerfed in May 2026?

The Tank received a 6% HP reduction in the May 11 patch, down from its April build. This does not change its role — Tank is still the best frontline unit for small and medium maps — but it does slightly lower the threshold at which Artillery can one-shot softened Tanks. The strategy planner recommendations are updated to reflect this change: Tank is still recommended as the primary frontline, but the spawn order now favors slightly faster rotation between Tank cycles.

What changed for economy buildings in the May 2026 update?

The most significant economy change was a 12% output buff to Factory in the May 16 patch, and the 8% Workshop speed reduction from May 11. Wheat Farm base income was left untouched in all May patches. The Supply Depot cost-reduction mechanic (12% off unit production) was also unchanged. The income planner values are still accurate for Wheat Farm and processing chain configurations.

Is the Helicopter still viable after the May patches?

Yes — Helicopter was untouched in all May 2026 patches. Its role as a Wall-bypass flanker and Anti-Air attention splitter is unchanged. The only indirect impact was the May 16 Factory buff, which makes Helicopter units marginally cheaper to sustain in production queues that include Factory-produced components. The strategy planner still recommends Helicopter as the primary wave-bypass unit at medium and large maps.

Sydney-based developer and Mini War player. I track every patch because dev notes tend to understate actual gameplay impact — especially for economy buildings. The Workshop nerf in v2.4.2 is a prime example: patch notes said "-8% production speed" but the real impact on wave 8-10 income was significantly larger than that implies. About Jim →
