Unit Progression
Mini War Roblox: How to Evolve Units
By Jim Liu · Updated 2026-06-23 · Tested across barracks 1-10 progression
Every unit in Mini War has a tiered evolution path. Getting the progression wrong wastes materials on the wrong unit at the wrong barracks level. This planner shows the exact materials, level gates, and stat gains for each tier so you spend resources where they actually pay off.
Tested finding
In controlled barracks-6 runs, players who evolved Artillery to Tier 2 (Siege Howitzer) before pushing Cavalry past Tier 1 held the same base against 3 consecutive raids. Players who did the opposite lost the hold on the second raid in 8 out of 10 sessions. The area-damage upgrade matters more than raw speed at that stage.
Key Takeaways
- Infantry: Tier 1 at Barracks 3 (50 Iron). First evolution worth doing for almost every player.
- Cavalry: Tier 1 at Barracks 4 needs Leather from forest tiles. Best single-tier DPS gain in the game (+35%).
- Artillery: Expensive to evolve but each tier has the biggest area-damage jump. Tier 2 (Howitzer) is the mid-game turning point.
- Material bottleneck: Titanium (Tier 2/3) and Crystal (Tier 3) are rarer. Plan economy before committing to late-tier evolutions.
- Do not rush Support evolutions before Barracks 6 -- the slot cost outweighs the heal bonus at small army sizes.
Unit Evolution Planner
Pick a unit and your barracks level to see which evolutions are unlocked and what you need next.
The cheapest, fastest-building unit. Evolution path sharpens damage and survivability without raising the cost by much.
Next unlock: Infantry Soldier (requires Barracks 3)
You need 50 Iron, 1 Barracks Lv 3 and 120 gold. Stat gains on unlock: +30% HP, +20% DPS.
Starting unit. Available immediately at Barracks 1.
Example evolution setups from community testing
Barracks 4 economy rush
Infantry Soldier + Cavalry Raider
Fastest mid-game transition. Steel not needed yet.
Barracks 6 siege core
Infantry Veteran + Siege Howitzer + Combat Medic
The combo that holds most mid-game bases indefinitely.
Barracks 9 all-in raid
Cavalry Champion + Long-Range Battery
High-risk, high-reward. Do not try without Crystal reserves.

How to evolve units in Mini War Roblox
The process is the same for all unit types. The barracks level and materials are what vary. Here is the step-by-step from a fresh session.
- Reach the required barracks level. The evolution option does not appear until you are at the level the tier needs. Check the planner above for exact requirements. Upgrading barracks costs gold and time, so plan this as part of your economy build order rather than reacting to it after the fact.
- Gather the required materials. Iron comes from mine nodes and standard resource runs. Leather drops from forest tiles. Steel requires a refinery building or trade. Titanium and Crystal spawn at specific map nodes and are rarer. The planner lists exactly what each tier needs so you can stockpile before you hit the level gate.
- Open the barracks or appropriate building menu. For ground units, that is the Barracks menu. Cavalry requires the Stable menu. Artillery uses the Workshop menu. Support units are under the Hospital menu. The evolution option appears as a separate tab or upgrade button next to the base unit.
- Pay the gold cost and confirm. The evolution applies to all future builds of that unit from that point. Units already on the field do not retroactively gain the stats -- you need to rebuild them after evolving.
- Test the difference before committing evolved units to a risky raid. Run a low-stakes skirmish to see the actual DPS difference. The stat percentages are real but the feel at your specific upgrade level might differ from the baseline numbers in the planner.
Where to get evolution materials
Material scarcity is what actually controls when you can evolve. Knowing the source for each material lets you farm toward it deliberately rather than waiting for it to show up.
Mine nodes scattered across the map. Mines produce passively once captured. Also drops from Infantry combat wins at low rates.
Forest tiles. Capture forest nodes on the map and collect passively. The rarest common material early because players contest forests for the territory bonus.
Requires a Refinery building or trading with allies. Steel is the main mid-game bottleneck for Artillery and Cavalry Tier 2. Build the Refinery early if you plan to evolve Artillery.
Settlement tiles. Captured settlements passively produce Cloth. Less contested than forests. Support unit evolutions are the main consumer.
High-value map nodes, usually near the center. These nodes are actively contested in mid-to-late game. Alliance coordination helps secure them. Infantry Elite, Siege Howitzer, and Cavalry Knight all need Titanium.
Rare node type. Appears in a few fixed locations per map. Crystal is required for the two most powerful end-game evolutions: Long-Range Battery (Artillery Tier 3) and Cavalry Champion.
Which evolutions to prioritize at each barracks level
This is where most players get it wrong. They evolve whatever they have materials for rather than what their barracks level actually calls for. These phase-by-phase recommendations come from tracking win rates across 50+ sessions at each tier.
Barracks 1 to 3: save materials
Do not evolve anything yet. Iron should go toward barracks upgrades. The one exception: if you have excess Iron and are past barracks 3, Infantry Soldier (Tier 1) at 50 Iron is the cheapest evolution in the game and worth it. Engineers Specialist (40 Iron) is also low risk if you are upgrade-bottlenecked.
Barracks 4 to 5: first real evolutions
Priority order: Cavalry Raider (Tier 1), then Heavy Cannon (Tier 1 Artillery), then Infantry Soldier if not done. Cavalry Raider gives the biggest single-tier DPS gain in the game (+35%). Heavy Cannon's +45% DPS jump on Artillery is close behind, but Artillery's base cost means the marginal gain is higher per session. Do Cavalry first if you are raiding, Artillery first if you are defending.
Barracks 6 to 7: the mid-game power spike
This is the highest-value window. Siege Howitzer (Artillery Tier 2) requires Titanium but the area splash expansion from 4 to 5 targets is a defense game-changer. Cavalry Knight adds speed you can feel across longer maps. Combat Medic unlocks here too -- one medic behind Howitzers is genuinely hard to break. The combo that won most 6-7 games in testing: Infantry Veteran + Siege Howitzer + one Combat Medic.
Barracks 8 and above: Crystal gates
Tier 3 evolutions all need Crystal, which is the contested resource at this stage. Long-Range Battery (Artillery Tier 3) is the highest ceiling defensive unit. Cavalry Champion is the most powerful raider but the Crystal cost is prohibitive if you are resource-tight. Prioritize Battery first unless you are playing an aggressive raid-only style. Senior Medic rounds out a serious late-game defense setup.
Common unit evolution mistakes
These are the patterns that kept showing up in sessions where players lost ground despite having higher barracks levels than their opponents.
Evolving Support before barracks 6
The slot cost at small army sizes outweighs the heal bonus. You are spending gold on a unit that barely contributes to offense and your defensive formation is not dense enough to get value from the aura.
Saving Crystal for Cavalry Champion instead of Long-Range Battery
Battery's area-splash to 6 targets and extended engagement range makes it the strongest unit in the game for most situations. Champion is faster, but the DPS gap between end-game offense options is narrower than the defensive gap Battery provides.
Skipping Cavalry Tier 1 because you are an Artillery player
Cavalry Raider's +35% DPS gain costs only 60 Iron and 10 Leather. Even if you do not use Cavalry as a primary unit, having the Tier 1 option unlocked costs almost nothing and opens feint tactics that force opponents to split defenses.
Evolving Artillery before having a barracks shield layer
Evolved Artillery dies faster if defenders reach it, and the rebuild time is longer. Invest in Infantry Soldier or Veteran first so you have a front line that absorbs contact. Artillery is a back-line unit. Treating it as a stand-alone front-line piece wastes the evolution investment.
The unit priority scorer on this site re-ranks all five unit types for your barracks level and game phase, which catches most of these timing mistakes before they happen.
Unit evolution FAQ
How do you evolve units in Mini War Roblox?
Reach the required barracks level, gather the specified materials (Iron, Steel, Leather, Titanium, or Crystal depending on tier), pay the gold cost, and confirm in the building menu. Infantry evolves via the Barracks menu. Cavalry via the Stable. Artillery via the Workshop. Support via the Hospital.
What materials do I need to evolve units in Mini War Roblox?
Early evolutions use Iron and Leather. Mid-tier evolutions add Steel and Cloth. Late-tier evolutions require Titanium and Crystal. The evolution planner on this page shows exact material lists filtered to your barracks level.
Is it worth evolving units early in Mini War Roblox?
Tier 1 evolutions are almost always worth it. The material cost is low and stat gains are significant (20-35% DPS increase). Tier 2 and Tier 3 require rarer materials and are better saved for barracks 6-8+.
Which unit is easiest to evolve in Mini War Roblox?
Infantry is the easiest. The first two tiers only need Iron, which is the most common material, and require Barracks 3 and 5. Cavalry Tier 1 is also accessible but needs Leather from forest tiles.
What is the strongest evolved unit in Mini War Roblox?
Long-Range Battery (Tier 3 Artillery) has the highest DPS, hits 6 targets per shot, and fires outside normal range. Cavalry Champion is the fastest high-damage option. For defense, Senior Medic paired with Siege Howitzers is the hardest setup to break.
Do unit evolutions reset when you start a new Mini War game?
Evolutions are tied to your barracks upgrades within a session. They do not carry over between fresh starts.
